Job description

Job Title: Welder

Base Location: Peterhead Power Station

Salary: £39,31 depending on skills and experience and working hours

Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday – Friday 8am-4:30pm (1pm Friday)

We’re looking for a Welder to join the team at Peterhead Power Station.

In this role, you will be working as part of a maintenance team on pressure part repairs replacing valves and pipework and steel work modifications, as well as carrying out small fabrication works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform welding operations using various techniques.
  • Set up welding equipment, including selecting appropriate materials and settings.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions as needed.
  • Inspect welded joints to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on existing structures and equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan and execute welding projects.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times.
  • No regular out of hours but could be if required.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
What do I need to be successful in the role?
  • Experience as a coded welder GTAW & MAW qualified to ASME IX 6G in carbon steel & stainless steel.
  • Must hold a recognised welding Apprenticeship to N/SVQ Level 3 as a minimum.
  • Familiarity with a variety of welding equipment and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical dexterity and stamina for extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to welding operations.
  • It would be a benefit if you have experience in welding Cr-Mo grade11 & Cr-Mo grade12 (P11 / P22).

Please note: This is a temporary position. If successful, you will initially be onboarded and employed through our preferred recruitment agency partner. Contracts are initially offered for a period of three months, with the potential to be extended or made permanent, subject to business needs and the candidate’s suitability.
