Job description

AJT Engineering is accepting applications for our Site Services Division for the position of Welder.

Job Purpose
The main purpose of this position is to undertake welding activities as per company procedures in a safe and responsible manner at all times.

Main Responsibilities

1. Carry out welding activities in the workshops and on customers' sites.
2. Carry out welding processes to GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW in various positions.
3. Carry out welding to ISO, ASME, and AWS standards.
4. Welding of structure fabrications (Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium).
5. Welding of pipework fabrications (Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex, Cunifer, and Aluminium).
6. Work to the requirements of CDM regulations 2015.
7. Maintain a safe and tidy working environment and make appropriate use of PPE at all times.
8. Work to HSE ACOPs, customer rules & specifications, company work instructions, and route cards at all times.
9. Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, whether on customer sites or at college.
10. Carry out any other reasonable task/activities as requested by Manager or delegate.

Skills And Abilities

1. Ability to learn and adapt to the requirements of the role.
2. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
3. Ability to use calibrated equipment for accurate measurement and dimensional checking.
4. Possess a high level of focus and attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Organisational ability and time management skills.
6. Demonstrated self-starter with high initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Advanced conversational and written English/high level interpersonal skills.
8. Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
9. Able to work away from home as required.
10. Able to work overtime, periodic weekends, and night shifts if needed.

Knowledge & Experience

1. Minimum SVQ level 3 or equivalent or higher in relevant trade qualification.
2. Preferred 5 years practical experience working in an engineering environment.
3. Preferred 5 years practical experience of working with hand & power tools.
4. Preferred basic fabrication for both Structure and Piping Fabrications.
5. Preferred experience working on CDM worksites.
6. Preferred working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
7. Preferred Full clean driving licence.

Working Hours: This is a full-time role based on 38 hours per week.

Relocation Assistance: This role is not eligible for relocation.
