Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Web Developer / Python Developer to join a well-established charity dedicated to promoting truth and ensuring accurate information reaches the public. This is a remote role with occasional office visits offering excellent benefits and salary range of £41,400 - £55,000.

As a Web Developer / Python Developer, you will play a key role in shaping our digital infrastructure, ensuring robustness and accessibility, while designing systems that empower content teams and enhance the user experience.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Oversee the migration from Django CMS to Wagtail CMS, ensuring smooth integration and functionality.
  2. Develop new features for the website, enhancing its capabilities and user experience.
  3. Maintain a clean and manageable codebase, ensuring easy scalability for a small team.
  4. Make key architectural decisions for backend and frontend integration.
  5. Support the software, occasionally working outside of regular hours to resolve critical issues.
  6. Contribute to technical project proposals and internal documentation.
  7. Provide support and training to internal users of the Wagtail system.
  8. Collaborate across the tech stack, occasionally building APIs to connect various web apps, including the CRM system.


What we are looking for:

  1. Previously worked as a Web Developer, Full Stack Developer, Python Developer, Django developer, Digital Developer or in a similar role.
  2. Experience with Django, Wagtail, and Python.
  3. Skilled in modern version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub.
  4. Knowledge of frontend technologies, including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  5. Understanding of browser compatibility, responsive design, and styling frameworks.
