Prif ddiben y rôl fydd cyflawni nodau Strategaeth Datblygu’r Casgliad yng nghyd-destun Amgueddfa Wlân Cymru a chefnogi'r gwaith o gyflawni'r weledigaeth strategol ar gyfer y safle.

Democratiaeth ddiwylliannol sydd wrth wraidd datblygu'r casgliad. Byddwch yn gweithio ar y cyd â chymunedau fel cyd-guraduron, casglwyr a phenderfynwyr. Byddwch yn adeiladu ar ffyrdd presennol o gasglu ac yn datblygu methodolegau newydd sy'n sicrhau ein bod yn mynd ati i ymgysylltu ag unigolion a chymunedau ledled Cymru wrth benderfynu’r hyn y dylem ei gasglu yn hanes y diwydiant gwlân yng Nghymru a sut. Mae'r meysydd allweddol a nodwyd fel blaenoriaethau ar gyfer datblygu’r casgliad ar y safle hwn yn cynnwys:

1. Ymchwilio a chasglu hanes a diwylliant materol sgiliau traddodiadol y diwydiant gwlân yng Nghymru.
2. Casglu'r dreftadaeth ddiwylliannol anniriaethol a ddangosir gan ein crefftwyr cyfoes ar y safle.
3. Ymchwilio a chasglu diwylliant materol stori gynaliadwy gwlân yng Nghymru – gan ddisgrifio’i briodweddau, yr ymchwil sy'n dod i'r amlwg ac arloesedd yn y diwydiant a helpu hefyd i wneud y mwyaf o botensial y dirwedd naturiol rydyn ni wedi’n lleoli ynddi.
4. Cyflawni Siarter Dad-drefedigaethu Casgliad Amgueddfa Cymru drwy weithio gydag amryw o gymunedau perthnasol i ymchwilio a datblygu ystyron dyfnach ynglyn â rhai agweddau ar hanes y diwydiant gwlân fel bod yr hanesion y maen nhw’n eu cyflwyno yn fwy cytbwys, dilys ac wedi’u dad-drefedigaethu.
5. Bydd y rôl yn cynyddu gwelededd y casgliad tecstilau gwehyddu cenedlaethol a gedwir yn yr Amgueddfa a mynediad ato, gan sicrhau ei fod wedi'i gatalogio'n llawn ac wedi'i ddigideiddio fel adnodd i gefnogi gwaith dylunwyr a gwneuthurwyr cyfoes, ein rhaglen trwyddedu brand newydd, ac amrywiaeth o ddefnyddwyr eraill.

Job Summary

The main purpose of the role will be to deliver the aims of the Collection Development Strategy in the context of the National Wool Museum and support the delivery of the strategic vision for the site.

Cultural democracy is at the heart of developing the collection. You will work collaboratively with communities as co-curators, collectors and decision makers. You will build on existing ways of collecting and develop new methodologies that ensure that we actively engage individuals and communities across Wales in deciding what and how we should collect the history of the woollen industry in Wales. Key areas identified as priorities for collection development at this site include:

1. Researching and collecting the history and material culture of traditional woollen industry skills in Wales.
2. Collect the intangible cultural heritage demonstrated by our contemporary craftspeople on site.
3. Researching and collecting the material culture of the sustainable story of wool in Wales - capturing its properties, emerging research and innovation in the industry while also supporting our work in maximizing the potential of the natural landscape in which we are located.
4. Deliver Amgueddfa Cymru’s Charter for Decolonising the Collection by working with a range of relevant communities to research and develop deeper meanings relating to some aspects of the history of the woollen industry so that the histories they present are more balanced, authentic, and decolonised.
5. The role will increase the visibility of and access to the national woven textile collection held at the museum, ensuring that it is fully catalogued and digitised as a resource to support the practice of contemporary designers and makers, our emerging brand licensing programme, and a range of other users.
