Job description

Here at Sodexo we are looking for a Water Quality Manager to join us at Manchester Foundations University Hospital. Reporting to the Mechanical Manager, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of water and related plant, equipment, and services within the full range of Trust properties.

What you'll do

  • Liaise with IPC to ensure an up-to-date and compliant Water Safety Plan (WSP) through awareness and training.
  • Act as the appointed Estates Responsible Person for Water in line with HTM 04, ensuring all key water safety roles (e.g., Capital and Competent Persons) are in place.
  • Lead the Estates Water Safety Groups, chair meetings, and represent the Trust at partner and strategic WSGs, providing all required performance reports.
  • Work with IPC to maintain an up-to-date and compliant Water Safety Plan (WSP), supported by effective training and awareness across the Trust.
  • Audit, manage, and maintain full compliance with the WSP, ensuring all water safety-related records are accurate and acted upon.
  • Support and manage Authorising Engineer (AE) audits, ensuring the AE appointment is in place and action plans are delivered accordingly.
  • Oversee in-house compliance functions and lead on timely actions arising from Water Risk Assessments.
  • In partnership with the Contracts Manager, manage water safety contracts and update technical specifications as needed.
  • Provide expert advice on water safety issues, monitor and act on water sample results, and deliver specialist training programmes to meet compliance standards.

What you'll bring

  • Specific training in Legionella (L8) and knowledge of HTM 04-01.
  • PFI & Healthcare Estates Experience.
  • Knowledge of water distribution systems, installation requirements, design implications, drainage systems, microbiological contamination, infection control principles, aseptic techniques.
  • Experience in a water DRP/RP role.
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations.
  • Capable of managing difficult customer and stakeholder conversations in a complex PFI environment.
