Job description

Job Title: Waste Recycling Manager (temp)
Location: Brighton
Employment Type: 09:00 - 18:00


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of waste and recycling services, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  2. Lead and manage site teams to deliver high performance, ensuring targets for recycling, diversion from landfill, and service quality are met or exceeded.
  3. Implement and monitor health, safety, and environmental procedures in accordance with company policy and legal requirements (e.g., HSE, EA).
  4. Develop and maintain risk assessments, method statements, and site operating procedures.
  5. Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all permits, licenses, and reporting requirements are maintained and up to date.
  6. Manage budgets, resources, and procurement of equipment or services as required.
  7. Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to staff, promoting a safety-first culture.
  8. Ensure all plant, machinery, and vehicles are maintained in safe working order and downtime is minimised.

Requirements:
  1. Proven experience in a senior role within the waste management or recycling sector is ideal.
  2. Strong understanding of waste legislation, environmental compliance, and health & safety regulations.
  3. Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  4. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational management systems.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Full UK driving licence (or equivalent) required.
