The Opportunity

We’re partnering with a top-tier nuclear and defence organisation to recruit a Waste Officer. In this critical role, you’ll take charge of managing radioactive, hazardous, and controlled waste, ensuring safe disposal while meeting stringent environmental and nuclear standards. What You’ll Do:

  • Lead waste management operations, ensuring full compliance with nuclear and defence regulations.
  • Design and execute strategies for waste handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Uphold environmental and safety laws with precision and care.
  • Keep detailed, accurate records to satisfy regulatory requirements.
  • Perform audits and inspections to maintain high standards in waste practices.
  • Collaborate with site teams, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to keep everything running smoothly.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Active SC Clearance (non-negotiable).
  • Hands-on experience in waste management within nuclear or defence sectors.
  • Deep understanding of radioactive waste types (LLW, ILW, VLLW) and disposal regulations.
  • Working knowledge of NDA, ONR, EA, SEPA, and DEFRA requirements.
  • Expertise in environmental regulations and hazardous waste processes.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with teams and regulators alike.
