Warehouse Supervisor

We are currently looking for Warehouse Supervisor to join our team at our Uddingston Depot.

The role is a full-time position, working 45 hrs per week, Monday to Friday working between the hours of 10:30 20:00 with a 30-minute break. A weekday hourly rate of £12.95 for hours worked before 6pm, and a weekday hourly rate of £13.93 for hours worked after 6pm, some weekend work may also be required with further enhanced rates available.

We are looking for a well-organised individual who will ensure the efficient running of the yard and warehouse operation, accountable for the goods and operations within these areas.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for supervising the yard and warehouse team on a day-to-day basis.
• Responsible for safe loading and unloading of vehicles, while considering vehicle weights and dimensions.
• Responsible for keeping administration up to date.
• Responsible for ensuring the warehouse and yard are kept clean.
• Responsible for communicating effectively in relation to the workload and daily tasks to yard/warehouse operatives.
• Ensuring all tasks relating to the yard and warehouse are carried out safely and effectively.
• Ensure plant and equipment kept in working order, defects raised and repaired.
• Liaising with relevant colleagues for updated inbound and outbound freight volumes.
• Brief yard/warehouse team, drivers and subcontractor of any amendments to routing and loading detail.
• Ensuring all trunks and vehicles are loaded to deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with and promote all health and safety rules and regulations regarding the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions.

Requirements:

• Previous experience of supervising employees.
• Previous warehouse and forklift experience preferred.
• Hold a current counterbalance forklift licence.
• Health and safety conscious with the ability to challenge the wrong behaviours and ensure everyone is always working in a safe manner.
• A good communicator, attention to detail and excellent organisation skills.
• Ability to work well on your own as well as part of a team.
• Previous pallet network experience advantageous.
• Flexible approach to work demands, including some weekend work.
• Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment, working to deadlines.
• Develop a strong knowledge and understanding of Wm. Armstrong transport operations and procedures.
• Develop a knowledge of our customer locations, profile and products.
• Must be proficient in using Microsoft packages (Excel, Word, Outlook).
