Job Description

Company Description: If you are as enthusiastic about our brand and our cars as we are, join us! As a Volkswagen Group Dedicated Mechanic for the AA, you are the key to keeping all brands including VW Passenger, Commercial, Seat, Skoda, Audi, and more on the road. You will have a variety of work by working on a range of vehicles daily, whilst delivering five-star customer satisfaction ratings. You are proud to be VWG, proud to be The AA, and we’re proud of your commitment to quality and excellence.

Base Salary: £36,140.04 plus a location allowance. On average, our VW Technicians earn around £42,000; however, our top performers can earn upwards of OTE £48,000.

Start and finish on your driveway (paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home). Sign-on locations are also available for discussion. Each year, choose your standby hours preferences to suit your lifestyle and work-life balance. Bring your best self, and we provide the rest, including a van, full Volkswagen branded uniform, boots, and Volkswagen-specific equipment!

Benefits:

  1. Free breakdown cover from day one
  2. 23 days holidays (increases with service)
  3. Up to 7% company pension contribution
  4. Not one but two famous brands that our customers love with industry-leading training
  5. Company funded life assurance

This is the job:

  1. A communicator: You ensure that your customer is completely taken care of. You are the master of diagnostics and will take the time to competently and effectively explain your fix to your customer, always providing the best service.
  2. A self-starter: You are responsible for your own workload, being there for your customer from beginning to end, and filling out your paperwork concisely, making your day worthwhile.
  3. A fixer/problem solver: You will revel in utilizing your technical expertise to solve a variety of issues, whether that’s fixing a warranty-related issue or a roadside breakdown.

What will I be doing? You’ll be the superhero fixing a brand vehicle breakdown by the side of the road or undertaking warranty repairs on an appointment basis. You take the time delighting your customer, helping them get back to their journey. In return, we’ll go the extra mile for you, with a two-week AA induction, a two-week VW induction, plus ongoing online or onsite training including EV and HV training.

What do I need? You’ll need:

  1. NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
  2. Some knowledge of working on one or multiple VWG brands or vehicles
  3. It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
  4. To be happy working shifts, which could include evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays

Additional Information: As a valued team member, you’ll have access to a range of fully supported development programmes designed to help you progress your career with us. Whether you’re looking to grow in your current role, or learn new skills and take on greater responsibilities, we will help you build the career you’re looking for.

Here at the AA, we understand and value the difference this brings to our culture and our customers. We actively seek people from diverse backgrounds to join us and become part of an inclusive company where you can be yourself, are empowered to be your best, and feel like you truly belong.
