Join the team as a
VP, Sales Leader UK&I
Who we are & why we’re hiring
Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help
companies and developers worldwide
build better applications and customer experiences.
Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we're on a journey to becoming a globally antiracist company that supports
diversity, equity & inclusion
wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and innovators to help fuel our growth momentum.
About the job
We're looking for an experienced leader to lead our key Horizon 1 territory, UKI which is Twilio’s largest territory outside of North America. In the last 3 years we have experienced significant growth in this market and aim to continue this trajectory into 2022 and beyond. The ideal candidate has scaled a business in the UK and demonstrates the experience required to support our growth to the goal of $1bn.
As sales leader of our UKI team, you will be responsible for bringing your strategic vision and innovative approach to expand the sales team and for selling all of our products to existing and new customers in this region. Reporting to the VP of EMEA, you will play a key role in generating new revenue, leading your team, defining and implementing GTM strategy, improving the sales process, and the creation of efficient programs that deliver high AE productivity in a model that allows us to scale quickly with success.
You should feel comfortable leading a Sales team who is focused on selling a platform or SaaS, but if you have experience with Contact Centers, Messaging, Call Tracking and other communication solutions, that’s even better.
You have experience building large teams, running all forecasting motions, and can support fiscal planning and revenue tracking for all major accounts in the region.
You have 12 years Enterprise quota carrying sales experience and 8 years in Enterprise sales leadership selling SaaS, IaaS, PaaS or consumption based technology. We’re particularly interested if these experiences include working with cloud consumption pricing and contractual models.
You are someone who believes deeply in building inclusive and anti-racist environments, allowing employees from all backgrounds to contribute, grow, and prosper. The UKI Sales team leads our diversity efforts with women making up half our team and a high proportion of the team from diverse backgrounds. As a senior leader in EMEA, you must be a visible advocate and champion for our values, the Twilio Magic, helping build Twilio’s brand as an inclusive and diverse employer both internally and within the communities of our hubs in EMEA. You must believe that a diverse team, from the top down, allows all employees to achieve their full potential and as a result will allow Twilio to reach our goals, collectively.
Responsibilities:
Here’s what we expect from a successful candidate, in addition to living the Twilio Magic and a track record of building and leading world-class Sales teams:
- Develop, drive, and communicate our sales and GTM strategy across the UKI territory.
- Deliver the sales numbers and revenue growth targets through customer-centric leadership. Be an active leader in sales activity, help close the Region’s largest opportunities and largest revenue contributors.
- Recruit, motivate, and retain a diverse, world-class sales team, providing career development and performance coaching.
- Participate in a cross-functional GTM leadership team with colleagues from partners, services, sales ops, marketing, support and more.
- Develop strong internal relationships with Twilio sales, marketing, product development, support and finance to solidify support for our existing and potential new customers.
- Work closely with post-sales teams to drive adoption and success through ongoing delivery and support, reducing/eliminating customer churn.
- Improve internal operational efficiencies by building a solid operating cadence and team/individual focus around the pipeline, forecasting, deal review, sales execution, and revenue realization.
- Drive and control the product mix within the sales pipeline and sales results, executing a “land” and “expand” motion with telecommunications and software solutions.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness to assess situations where language, culture and or demographics impact the working environment.
Required:12 years’ experience driving high-reaching sales results selling innovative technology solutions.
Strong functional expertise in sales and sales management with a minimum of 8 years experience leading high-performing software sales teams.
Experience developing customer focused sales strategies that cut across all GTM functions, and collaborate in particular with SDR, Partner and Marketing functions.
Experience of operating in a fast-paced environment, at significant scale.
Proven track record of building and leading impactful and diverse sales teams, including overlay specialist teams, that consistently exceed targets.
Experience of new logo sales and cross selling into an existing customer base.
Comfortable setting priorities, leading forecasting, and able to support fiscal planning and revenue tracking for a fast growing business.
The ability to build positive relationships with business and technical leaders, as well as influence their thinking and understanding.
