Job description

As a dedicated member of the Citizenship team, you will ensure that Barclays’ Citizenship strategy is coordinated globally to maximize societal and business impact and achieve Barclays’ external Citizenship commitments. You will inform the strategic positioning of Barclays’ Citizenship portfolio and identify and support opportunities to engage and excite stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will act as a guardian for Citizenship materials and messaging, providing support to ensure coordinated and sustained implementation.
  • You will prepare strategy presentation decks, briefings, and speaking points for priority stakeholders, key meetings, and external forums to educate, inform, and engage business leaders on Barclays’ Citizenship approach and programmes.
  • You will support the Global Head of Citizenship and regional Citizenship teams to produce high-quality materials, agendas, and analysis to ensure effective Global and Regional Citizenship Council meetings.
  • In partnership with the regional Citizenship teams and Citizenship Communications team, you will identify and support the activation of stakeholder engagement opportunities from across the suite of Citizenship activities.
  • You will remain abreast of developments in the internal business and external landscape to continually evolve and enhance Barclays’ approach to Citizenship to maximise social impact and business benefit – sharing best practices and encouraging greater connectivity within the team.

To be successful as a Citizenship Vice President in this role, you should have:

  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to distil and consolidate large amounts of information to articulate clear and relevant messaging.
  • An ability to operate collaboratively and engage a diverse stakeholder group.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound judgement to support and enable effective decision-making.
  • An ability to forward plan and successfully set clear priorities, execute well, and partner effectively.
  • Experience of analysing data and making decisions in a changing environment, while anticipating future needs and priorities.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills to support and enable the effective representation of Barclays’ Citizenship programmes.

Purpose of the Role:

To support the design and delivery of Barclays’ Citizenship strategy, furthering Barclays’ efforts to make a positive impact on the communities in which it operates.

Accountabilities:

  • Development and implementation of impactful Citizenship partnerships, programmes and colleague engagement opportunities.
  • Management of relationships with non-governmental organisations, non-profits and other external organisations or industry groups to align and support community impact objectives.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders to maximise engagement in Barclays’ Citizenship agenda.
  • Development of initiatives that support and educate relevant stakeholder groups on Barclays’ Citizenship programmes to build trust and credibility with clients, employees, and shareholders.
  • Evaluation of programmes and partnerships to evolve and enhance Barclays’ approach to Citizenship.

Vice President Expectations:

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
