Volunteer to Career Ward Support HASU, Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle
The Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) department specializes in acute stroke care and stroke/neuro rehabilitation and compromises a 10 bedded hyper acute stroke unit, with 33 acute stroke and neuro rehabilitation beds. The Stroke Department is a friendly and caring environment providing care to the most critically / acutely ill patients. Our current Stroke wards regularly receive excellent feedback from patients and their families about our caring staff. The aim of HASU is to provide holistic care for acute stroke patients, utilizing a coordinated multidisciplinary approach, resulting in optimal patient outcomes.
The Volunteer to Career programme enables you to complete essential mandatory training, complete 60 hours on the ward and an opportunity to complete your Care Certificate. On successful completion of this programme you will be interviewed to join our Bank register as a Casual Healthcare Assistant.
The programme is funded from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and this therefore only open to applicants who reside in the Cumberland Council boundary.
Who is eligible to apply for the VtC programme? The VtC programme is open to anyone who is interested in a career within Health and Social Care. You must be 18 years old or over to volunteer on a ward.
