Role Description
This is a volunteer role (unpaid) in Norfolk as a Beach Clean Leader.
The role involves organizing and leading group beach clean events, coordinating volunteers, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and promoting environmental awareness within the community.
By joining the team, you will be given a Beach Cleaner Starter Kit in a heavy-duty storage box (including weighing scales, bin bags, first aid kit, clipboard/pen, hand sanitiser, anti-bac wipes, hi-viz vest) and a selection of litter picking equipment (30x litter pickers, bag hoops, reusable bags & reusable gloves). You will also receive guidance on how to organize your own group beach clean events, be covered under the Norfolk Beach Cleans public liability insurance policy, and have a platform to promote the events!
The time, date, and location of the clean-up events will be of your choice to suit when and where you can do.
You must be in good physical health as there may be some heavy litter items collected by volunteers to be moved to the nearest bin.
The equipment you'll be given takes up a decent amount of space; so please ensure you have space available to store the equipment and a vehicle big enough to transport this equipment to/from beach clean events.
Like most volunteering, this is an unpaid position; however, you'll be given all of the equipment and resources you'll need to get off to a flying start!
All that's asked in return is a commitment of a minimum of 1 beach clean event a month, or 12 events in the year.
I (Emma) will aim to attend your first event to hand over equipment and provide guidance throughout the event and show you the ropes.
