About the Role
Are you skilled in coding, detail-oriented and familiar with the UK energy markets? If so, come and join the EDF Volume Forecasting team as a Performance Analyst!
The Opportunity
We are open to either a Senior Analyst or Analyst to join the Volume Forecasting (VF) team, responsible for generating electricity and gas forecasts for our customers, as well as forecasting the output from one of the largest UK PPA renewable portfolios. The VF team is a critical part of the wider Portfolio Operations team who are responsible for forecasting, hedging, and trading EDF’s entire power and gas portfolio including renewable, nuclear and gas storage.

The salary for this position is circa £56,000, though it will vary based on experience level. What you’ll be doing
- Reporting on the accuracy and financial impact of our renewable (wind, solar, hydro etc) forecasts.
- Designing and sharing suitable metrics to measure key aspects of forecasting performance.
- Owning and leading a programme of continuous improvement for reporting and insight within the team.
- Identifying and supporting delivery of improvements to our renewable forecasts.
- Recommending changes to our commercial contracts to protect against new/known forecasting risks.
- Using reporting to identify areas for adding value eg certain technologies, locations, sectors, customers etc.
- Working closely with stakeholders in Wholesale Market Services, EDF Business Solutions and Finance to enhance our reporting and insight capabilities.
- Running business critical operations where required, driving improvements and addressing data quality issues.
Who you are
We are looking for somebody with:
- Strong coding knowledge in SQL, R, Python or similar.
- Good knowledge of the UK energy market is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of numerical, analytical and modelling skills (e.g. time series analysis and regression).
- Ability to validate, analyse and draw insights from large datasets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to use initiative to develop and execute projects whilst under minimal supervision.
- Positive outlook with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to drive positive change, influence others and think innovatively.
