Visitor Experience & Engagement Facilitator

Wellcome Collection is a free museum and library exploring health and human experience, where you can enjoy exhibitions, museum and library collections, public events, and a vibrant shop and café. We also publish books and online stories.

We are looking for Visitor Experience & Engagement Facilitators to join our team on a permanent basis.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will be working as part of the Visitor Experience & Engagement team at Wellcome Collection which is at the heart of Wellcome's work.

The Visitor Experience & Engagement team is key to ensuring visitors engage with everything Wellcome Collection has to offer through a high-quality, interactive and multi-layered experience.

What will I be doing?

  1. Provide a consistently excellent experience, ensuring visitors have a safe and enjoyable visit.
  2. Research, develop and deliver high quality and innovative engagement sessions including tours, talks and creative workshops.
  3. Be an active ambassador for Wellcome, engaging the widest possible audience.
  4. Fulfil back of house administrative duties, such as correspondence and group tour bookings.
  5. Invigilate the galleries, providing a 'presence' on post at all times.
  6. Proactively develop inclusion and diversity awareness and skills.
  7. Provide an interpretative role for visitors in gallery, encouraging interaction and engagement.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation.
  • Deliver a high level of service in a customer or visitor-focused environment.
  • Communicate scientific or complex information in an accessible and engaging manner.
  • Learn and use a variety of IT packages and programmes.
  • Act as a fire marshal in case of emergency evacuation.
  • Communicate effectively, including drafting correspondence.

Is this job for me?

This role is ideal for individuals with significant experience in public-facing roles. It requires flexibility to work on a rota basis across all days, including evenings and bank holidays.

We are looking for somebody who:

  • Has experience of delivering a high level of service in a customer or visitor-focused environment.
  • Has significant experience of public speaking, facilitation, or teaching.
  • Will work flexibly Monday to Sunday on a rota basis.
  • Strives to create a fair and healthy environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to act in ways that encourage equality and values diversity.
  • Is dedicated to access, diversity and inclusion.
