Job description

An exciting opportunity for a teacher of wind instruments to join our busy and successful Prep School for September 2025 working initially 1 day per week.

We are seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic and inspiring individual to teach flute, recorder, clarinet and/or saxophone to students on an employed basis.

The position is term time only, currently with one day of teaching per week (which could increase in future) and would see you join our team of dedicated and supportive music teachers within the department.

The Peripatetic Teacher will be responsible for the provision of individual instrument lessons, encouraging our pupils to foster a passion for their instrument, giving supportive and challenging tuition as well as strategies for independent practice. The role will also involve contributing to the wider musical life of the School through recruitment of students and involvement with ensembles, concerts and other performances as required.

The candidate should be an experienced teacher who is able to teach recorder, flute and clarinet. The ability to accompany on the piano would be a desirable skill. The ability to teach beginner bassoon and saxophone would also be desirable. This is an exciting time to join the school as the music department is growing its orchestra and ensembles, and developing new initiatives, such as class instrumental teaching.
