DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

4Studio is the driving force behind C4's digital acceleration strategy, with the objective to create, adapt and distribute brilliant content across our social and digital channels, building engaged audiences that deliver digital views at scale.

JOB PURPOSE

Working alongside a dedicated content production team, you will create original social food content for multiple platforms. The Video Editor, Food requires a passion and strong knowledge of what works across the food content spectrum on all social media platforms. They should be technically versatile and comfortable collaborating with production crew and other stakeholders. They should be an expert in editing technology and Adobe CC, with experience of creating content to briefs, detail obsession, and creative drive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with a small production team to edit short-form, original food content for social media channels.
• Contributing to ideas and translating these in a fast-turnaround food content production environment, working to a weekly production and publishing schedule.
• Mastering best practice social-first editing for food content, grabbing the audience's attention from the get-go.
• Understanding the difference between a hit and a miss, even at the idea stage, with a strong grasp of TikToks vs. YT Shorts and audience behaviors online.
• Editing longer-form food-focused entertainment content is a bonus.
• Liaising with internal teams and Channel 4 commissioners regarding the editorial of the content.
• Managing the sometimes competing demands of key stakeholders, requiring coolness under pressure and excellent powers of persuasion.
• Working to strict timelines.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrable social food content experience and strong video editing capability.
• Skilled video editor with a good understanding of social food content trends and techniques.
• Expertise in Premiere Pro and, ideally, After Effects.
• Good knowledge of all areas of social food video content creation, able to execute a truly social-first video edit to a timely delivery.
• Expert understanding of post-production, from motion graphics and color grading to data wrangling, ingestion, and distribution.
• Strong experience in editing creative projects to meet a creative brief.
• Ability to edit topical food content quickly and to the required standard to allow jumping on trends.
• Strong awareness of best practices across multiple platforms, including how to deliver assets to various technical specifications.
• Thorough understanding of processes, workflows, tools, and methodologies.
• Experience working for a broadcaster, social publisher brand, or in an agency environment.
• This role may require working evenings and weekends as productions require.
• Proven experience establishing close working relationships and communicating with differing departments to meet varying demands.

HYBRID WORKING

From September 2023, employees will work a minimum of 3 days per week in their office location. The other 2 days should be working from home to create more time for collaboration, creativity, learning, and feedback. A working from another location policy for up to 10 days is also available. This pattern is subject to future changes, which will be communicated in advance.
