As Vice Principal of The Henley College, you will lead curriculum planning, quality improvement, skills development, and external partnerships for an aspirational sixth-form college with ambitions to be truly outstanding.
The Henley College is looking to appoint a talented leader of post-16 academic and vocational education into the role of Vice Principal.
You will report to our recently appointed Principal and CEO, Simon Spearman, and support him in delivering the Governing Body’s vision of providing an exceptional and inspiring student experience through an ambitious and aspirational curriculum.
As a member of the senior management team, our Vice Principal will report to the Principal and be accountable for the College’s curriculum offer, ensuring that it meets the needs of our learners and is responsive to local skills needs within the Thames Valley region. Our curriculum offer must be relevant, reviewed regularly, inclusive, and ambitious.
Responsible for ensuring robust systems are in place to review and monitor the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment, the Vice Principal will provide inspiring and influential leadership to direct reports and colleagues across the College to meet their training and development needs. Under the stewardship of this post-holder, our ambition to offer a truly outstanding student experience consistent in all areas of the College will be achieved through the development of quality improvement policies and processes.
As Vice Principal, we welcome your ability to develop an ambitious and aspirational curriculum, and enriching our skills development offer for students.
Your job as the next Vice Principal will be to ensure curriculum teams across the College benefit from the strategic connections and partnerships you develop so that students’ personal and professional skills are enriched, and the College continues to input into the Local Skills Improvement Plan.
As the strategic lead for MIS and funding, you will have the opportunity to help shape improvements to management reporting across the College, and into the senior management team and Governing Body. We are confident about the quality of our reporting, having developed our approach to ensuring accurate funding claims and reporting over the past few years, although we welcome your approach to supporting further improvements.
Shaping the future of The Henley College will be a key priority. You’ll work closely with the Principal, the Governing Body, and your team of Curriculum Leaders. Together, you will fulfil the College’s vision of creating a teaching and learning experience that transforms the lives of all students and delivers an ambitious strategy for growth based on investment in people, quality, and educational excellence.
Henley College has recently launched a new strategic plan, which has been developed in partnership with the Governing Body and the senior management team. Our next Vice Principal will be responsible for the success of key components of that strategy, especially our ambitions around enhancing students’ experiences and the delivery of outstanding educational opportunities for young people.
With this in mind, we feel it is essential that our next Vice Principal brings an excellent understanding of what makes a rich and meaningful academic and vocational curriculum, with experience leading and inspiring a workforce that has produced excellent student outcomes. We expect you will be a qualified teacher with considerable experience of leadership gained within aspirational post-16 contexts and prior experience developing a broad, developmental, and inclusive curriculum.
Passionate about the work that you do, with a commitment to ensuring a high-quality learning experience for students and a welcoming and developmental work environment for staff, you will bring a proven ability to plan and manage improvements and establish a cross-college culture of excellence to deliver outstanding quality in all aspects of student life — experience leading successful quality assurance and improvement plans is vital.
Responsible for a significant budget, it is important that you have experience in budget management and working with student records systems to inform improvements. Your current understanding of post-16 funding and policy is desirable to us, as is your experience maximising funding opportunities.
The student body and staff team of The Henley College represent a broad diversity of people. Many students travel into Henley-on-Thames from neighbouring towns and counties. The College offers an inclusive environment for students to learn and staff to work, and both the Principal & CEO and the Governing Body actively encourage applications from candidates who can strengthen the diversity of the College’s leadership team.
