Position: Vice President, Communications

Office Location: London, UK

As a member of the global communications and marketing team at SoftBank Investment Advisers [manager of the Vision Funds], you’ll help educate and inform entrepreneurs, reporters, opinion leaders, and our own employees about our efforts to accelerate the advancement of technology for the benefit of humanity. You will also work closely with SoftBank Group ecosystem and SoftBank Vision Fund portfolio companies to help them manage their reputations and share their stories with the world.

This role reports to the global head of communications and marketing for SoftBank Investment Advisers. The successful candidate will have strong corporate communications and brand marketing experience in tech and/or financial services, a passion for technology, and a constant desire to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead our communications and marketing activities in EMEA
  • Protect and enhance our reputation
  • Identify and address challenges to our business and our portfolio companies
  • Serve as company spokesperson in certain situations
  • Manage press inquiries and build deep relationships with reporters
  • Manage external agencies
  • Organize and staff press briefings and speaking engagements
  • Media train and provide advice to SoftBank and portfolio company executives
  • Support and manage the creation of comms and marketing programs to foster collaboration across the SoftBank ecosystem of companies and investments
  • Support communications for M&A and the SoftBank Vision Fund component of SoftBank’s quarterly earnings
  • Lead funding announcements for portfolio companies and help secure ongoing coverage
  • Manage SBIA social media strategy and content, and liaise with SoftBank Group social media team to encourage cross-coverage
  • Lead global internal communications to connect employees to our business objectives and contribute to a thriving culture
  • Oversee team operations including vendor contracting, payments, and metrics reporting

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrates strong cultural values: teamwork, integrity, entrepreneurship, impact
  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience
  • Experience in both agency and in-house environments is advantageous but not critical
  • Experience in venture capital, finance, and/or tech preferred
  • Strong critical thinking, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to focus and prioritize while working in a fast-paced environment with often conflicting demands on your time and capacity
  • Ability to work with colleagues across geographies and understand cultural differences
  • Low ego; willing to roll up sleeves
  • Ability to occasionally travel internationally
