Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic GP Vet to work in our vet clinic, managing the small team there and providing care to the lovely dedicated client base. We have a lovely welcoming team across 8 sites in Bristol, run by an experienced team of Clinical Directors and Senior Vets, many of whom have been with the practice for more than a decade.

What’s on offer for you?

You will have lots of support from experienced (and lovely) colleagues with Certificates in Surgery, Feline medicine, and Small Animal Medicine. We also have certificates ‘In-Progress’ and a wealth of other experience and qualifications in other handy subjects such as Behaviour, Herbal Medicine, and Acupuncture. Your working week will be over four days, and you will also be part of the shared weekend rota. There are no night duties or bank holiday work as our Redland Hospital is the host practice for the Vets Now Bristol Clinic. The Patchway site has a full-time registered nurse and very experienced receptionists to support you.

Our Patchway site has the ability to perform operations and dentistry, and we have a mobile ultrasound that can be brought to the clinic if needed. The shift would be three days a week operating and consulting, and one day consulting only. Ideally, we are looking for a full-time candidate; we have 39.5 hours over 4 days available, with an optional fixed day off. We are looking for a candidate who would be happy to join our weekend rota; both full and part-time applicants will be considered.

About You

We are looking for a Vet with more than 3 years of post-graduation experience. Our new Vet must be able and willing to perform GP work, including consultations. Although all complex cases could be referred to our hospital team, you would be the only vet in our Patchway branch, so confidence in sole-charge work is necessary. Our ideal candidate will be organised and a good communicator with both clients and colleagues. This role involves line managing three other employees, but training and support can be provided for those wanting to take the next step in this direction.

Because our people matter

We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises, and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:

  2. Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance; Employee Assistance Programme: 24/7 confidential helpline; Enhanced family-friendly policies, including maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay; Initiatives focused on colleague wellbeing.
  3. 4. Professional Memberships: BVA membership; VDS cover.
  5. Colleague Benefits: Company pension scheme. IVC Evidensia will make a contribution as well; Supporting a greener commute to work with a Cycle to Work scheme and Green Cars Scheme, subject to eligibility criteria; Voluntary benefits: we give you the flexibility to choose from a range of voluntary benefits to suit you; Access to discounts/cashback with hundreds of participating retailers; Discounted treatment for your own pets at an IVC Evidensia practice.

At IVC Evidensia, we are committed to Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, and Belonging. We are keen to hear from candidates from all minority and diverse groups. As a Disability Confident Employer, we are eager to hear from candidates with disabilities and long-term health conditions and would be happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments needed during the recruitment process.
