Veterinary Surgeon - Mixed Animal

British Veterinary Association
United Kingdom
GBP 60,000 - 80,000
Job description

Salary up to £65,000 DOE, Welcome Bonus up to £5,000 plus Relocation Allowance up to £5,000.

An exciting opportunity has opened up at Rogart Vets for a Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our team on a permanent basis. With 20-minute appointments scheduled between 9am and 5pm on weekdays, you’ll enjoy a varied role that includes 1-2 days of surgery per week, with the remainder of your time spent between consultations and farm animal work. Our services extend to satellite clinics in Lochinver, Kinlochbervie, Durness, and Helmsdale, where we proudly care for pets across the Highlands.

We are looking for someone who thrives on a diverse caseload and enjoys engaging with a wide variety of clients. Ideally, you'll have enough experience to confidently perform routine operations, possess strong knowledge of farm animals, and be willing to join our on-call rota. Support will be available for more complex cases.

Find your ideal work-life harmony

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.

Our full time Vets work 40 hours per week across 5 days Monday to Friday, with a share in 1 in 5 weekend on-call rota with a day off in lieu and 1 night per week OOH. OOH call out bonus scheme in place. We welcome applications from candidates looking for part time or flexible working hours.

Day to Day

As part of our friendly team, you'll experience a true mix of work with approximately 60% small animal and 40% farm work, primarily with beef and sheep and will balance your time spent between consulting and surgery. Our farm clients are part of a crofting community, where we provide tailored care for individual animals and support with herd/flock health planning. Typical farm duties include de-horning, castrations, pregnancy diagnosis, lambing, and calving. We care for our local wildlife and have helped with a range of animals from hedgehogs to otters and occasionally handle exotics including snakes, so there's plenty of opportunity to diversify your experience should this be of interest.
