PDSA is a special organisation that provides expert veterinary care for people across the UK who otherwise would not be able to afford to treat their pets. What we do really matters!
Our approach is unique as we combine pragmatism with a strong client care focus to deliver good clinical outcomes – we focus on measuring our impact rather than targets.
PDSA Southampton has been an integral part of the community since 1929, providing support for pets, assisting people in need, and training veterinary professionals.
Many of our team members have dedicated 5+ or 10+ years of service with us. We manage a busy and diverse caseload that ranges from routine vaccinations to emergency care; however, our shift structure is designed to prevent monotony.
We typically schedule one late shift from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM and one early shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM each week. Our out-of-hours coverage is managed by Vets Now, allowing us to focus on ensuring stable patients are monitored in the hospital by our Animal Care Assistants.
The majority of our staff work part-time, and we share weekend duties on a 1:8 rotation, ensuring full coverage. This arrangement not only includes lieu time at the end of the following week, giving you additional free time, but also offers enhanced pay.
Are you eager to learn new things and always on the lookout for interesting cases? We are seeking RCVS-registered veterinarians. You should be comfortable handling sole charge responsibilities, performing routine surgeries, and conducting basic case workups. We are committed to helping you develop your skills whenever possible. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to engage confidently with a diverse range of colleagues and clients. A willingness to share your expertise and lead by example is also important. Your passion will drive you to champion our charity, promote client contributions, and maintain a vigilant eye on resources, suggesting efficiencies wherever possible.
We are really passionate about being a great place to work, where people feel connected with what we do and where they feel they can make a genuine difference. This commitment has resulted in us being rated as one of the top 25 big organisations to work for in the UK according to Best Companies survey.
In addition to being a great place to work, we offer a wide range of benefits, including:
