Job description

Aylesford Vets for Pets previously Maidstone Companion Care has recently been through an exciting refurb, extension and rebrand.

The new owner Chris has worked at the practice for 2 years and became the practice owner in February this year. Chris qualified from Middlesex University in 2014 with a 2:1 degree BSc in Veterinary Nursing and has been driving the practice forward providing excellent client care.

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our supportive and engaged team. You will be joining a team of 3 Vets, 2 Nurses, SVN, VCA and 4 Receptionists. Our practice can offer you the environment, caseload and equipment needed to utilise your skills whilst also giving you plenty of opportunity to develop further, with support for postgraduate qualifications, CPD and training in your areas of interest. The vets in the team have a variety of interests from ultrasonography, cardiology, feline medicine and internal medicine.

The practice is conveniently located on South Aylesford Retail Park, close to the M20 and main bus routes for commuting purposes. Maidstone located in the heart of Kent’s beautiful ‘garden of England’ countryside and is just over an hour from London and plenty of international airports. This makes it the perfect location for enjoying outdoor adventures or city nightlife outside of work and we work hard to ensure all our team maintain a good work/life balance to make the most of this.

We are looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon with good routine surgery and medical skills, an interest in ophthalmology would be desirable but not essential. You will be confident in consults with clients, comfortable with a caseload made up of routine and more specific procedures and be able to mentor and support more junior vets.

This is a part time role (30 hours a week) over 3 days - Monday, Wednesday and Friday plus 1 in 3 Saturdays (9am - 12pm). There is occasional sole charge and no OOHs responsibility.

Chris can offer;

  • Competitive salary up to £55k (dependent on experience)
  • Annual leave 5.6 weeks, increasing to 6.6 weeks after 2 years’ service including Bank Holidays.
  • No OOHs
  • Paid professional memberships including RCVS, VDS and BVA.
  • Dedicated CPD allowance
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Colleague reward hub - exclusive offers and discounts online and on the high street, including 20% off at Pets at Home, Vets4Pets and the Groom Room

If you would like to join our team and you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and great customer service, then we would love to hear from you.
