Job Location: Ilford, London
Shifts: 4 on 3 off Days or Nights
Hourly Rate: Days - £19.49 PAYE / £24.75 Umbrella
Nights - £25.92 PAYE / £33.13 Umbrella
Saturday - £29.23 PAYE / £37.45 Umbrella (All hours)
Sunday - £38.98 PAYE / £50.16 Umbrella (All hours)

Company Summary:
Europe's largest Rolling Stock Producer, maintainer and servicing organisation is looking for Mechanical and Electrical Experienced Engineers to join a well-established team at a busy rail depot in East London.

Position Summary:
The role involves carrying out mechanical overhaul including stripping and refitting. You will be specifically focused on interior strip preparing carriage for the paint shop, working on the 357 Fleet within a mid-sized heavy maintenance depot. This position is key for the safe and reliable running of the fleet and is a requirement against the Service Agreement (SA). This is a safety-critical position in a busy live rail maintenance depot, and in this role, you would be expected to complete the following:

  1. Work from written instruction (VMI)
  2. Work from engineering drawings, adhering to specific measurements
  3. Removal of interiors and body sides
  4. Rebuilding on the vehicle sides
  5. Refitting seats, grab rails, poles, etc.

Person Profile:
You will be a highly self-motivated individual, as training to develop will be provided. Attitude and enthusiasm are key for this role; you should be able to follow detailed instructions, as an eye for detail is essential. Following on-the-job competency-based training, you will be able to work under your own initiative. Candidates from the following backgrounds will be considered:
  • Rolling Stock
  • HGV and PCV Technicians
  • Plant Maintenance
  • Audio Visual Engineers
  • Engineering Services Maintenance
  • Rail
  • RAF, REME, Army, Navy
Ideal applicants would have had some maintenance, servicing, or fitting experience on vehicle types ranging from cars to aeroplanes. Also, due to the nature of the programme, candidates must be able to work days & nights, which will include working on weekends.
