UX & UI Designer

We are working in partnership with a Local Authority based in London who are looking to appoint a UX & UI Designer to work within their Web and Digital team.

6 Month agency contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Location - Southwark, SE1. (Hybrid working - two office days per month)

Rate of Pay - £230 - £300 per day - Negotiable depending on experience.

About The Role:

• We are seeking a UX & UI Designer who is dedicated to creating digital services that meet user needs.
• This position is within our Web and Digital team, under Technology Digital Services (TDS), which focuses on designing solutions to common issues across our Web and digital platforms.
• Your role is responsible for designing and enhancing the user interface and user experience of our digital products.
• You will be required to work closely with other disciplines across TDS and service teams.

Key Accountabilities:

• Conduct in-depth user research to understand user behaviours, needs, and preferences.
• Analyse and interpret user feedback, data, and trends to inform design decisions.
• Create user personas and customer journey maps.
• Develop information architecture, site maps, and user flows to create a logical and intuitive structure for digital products.
• Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and mock-ups to visualise and communicate design concepts and iterate on these designs based on user feedback.
• Design visually appealing user interfaces that are consistent with branding guidelines utilising tools like Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.

Essential Experience:

• Strong knowledge of UI/UX design principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or similar.
• Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and front-end development principles (JavaScript skills are a plus).
