Metrea Mission Data’s goal is to provide software solutions to the toughest problems in national security; these span across a range of domains including environmental issues, cyber security and map-based situational awareness. We are experts in leveraging data; combining vast amounts of disparate data sets to provide valuable insights for our customers.

Metrea is an international business with offices in the USA, Europe and the Far East. Within the UK we have offices in Lincoln, Oxford and London.

Metrea Mission Data is now seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to help drive the development of a new geospatial awareness solution that will have impacts across a wide variety of areas including narcotics trafficking and fighting wildfires.

As the UX/UI Designer you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the product team to translate requirements into data-driven and intuitive designs.
  • User research, creating wireframes and prototypes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and iterating on designs based on feedback.
  • Maintaining UX/UI consistency across products.
  • Bringing clarity to complex, data-heavy applications and streamlining workflows to modern standards.

What we are looking for?

Our ideal candidate for this role would be someone with:

  • A strong portfolio that shows your work, process and results.
  • Proactive work ethic and curiosity in problem-solving.
  • Experience working with a design system / UI framework.
  • Vocal advocate for design and end-user experience to key stakeholders.
  • A deep passion for personal development with a drive to be constantly learning and furthering your professional knowledge.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to work independently whilst planning, prioritising and managing your design workload.
  • Great interpersonal skills, able to confidently communicate with others, conveying design content clearly and articulately to non-design team members.
  • Agile experience in a Software Development environment. This experience could come from any job role that uses Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with Figma & Azure Dev-ops.

Nice to have:

  • Experience designing, building and maintaining UI components within a UI framework.
  • Previous military experience, especially military aviation experience.
  • Worked on similar products involving mission planning or management systems.

Where will you be based?

This is a hybrid role. Ideally, the candidate would be based on-site with the team in Harwell for a minimum of 2 days per week. Additional visits to the customer site or to MMD offices may be required from time to time.
