Job description

This role is a full-time opportunity to join the Local Peoples team permanently, with your first project supporting the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Human-Centred Design (HCD) team. Local Peoples is a preferred partner for the Australian Federal Governments Department of Health and Aged Care’s Human Centred Design (HCD) Centre of Excellence (CoE). Beyond this project, you would be contributing to impactful co-design projects that improve services, policies, and products for communities across Australia.

About the first project:

The co-deliver User Experience (UX) Researcher delivers usability testing of new services and products to ensure they can and will be used. They deliver usability findings and recommendations to inform the delivery of pre-release services, products and systems which meet user needs.

Essential Skills and Duties:

1. Manage user research scoping, planning, and preparations (including the development of research plans and discussion guides, and setting up testing platforms and tools).
2. Manage the research participant recruitment process, including identifying and engaging with businesses (noting research panel arrangements).
3. Conduct and facilitate usability testing (moderated and unmoderated) to gather insights on how users interact with a product or interface.
4. Analyse and synthesise user data and feedback to identify opportunities for improving design, usability, and functionality.
5. Create wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes to visualise design concepts and flows using testing tools and platforms.
6. Develop low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes for testing with users.
7. Develop and manage user research reports, artefacts, and resources.
8. Share research insights and findings with various stakeholder groups and audiences using storytelling techniques.
9. Plan and coordinate stakeholder workshops and user research sessions.
10. Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the design vision is effectively implemented.
11. Support research operations activities and objectives.
12. Coordinate and provide support for program activities.
13. Knowledge of working in HCD.
14. Experience working in an MDT.
15. Assistance in the creation of program documentation, including reports, presentations, and talking points.
16. Use of analytics tools to analyse user behaviour and improve designs based on real user data.

Residency & Clearance:

• Must be an Australian citizen
• Hold a current Baseline Clearance or be able to obtain one
