The Role:

We are currently looking for a Utilities Manager who will collaborate with different departments to develop and implement maintenance strategies to support the company’s continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives whilst driving best practices to ensure statutory compliance.

As the Utilities Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Executing departmental maintenance strategies for people, plant, and utilities.
  • Delivering performance KPI’s for maintenance such as cost, plant availability, engagement, and lean TPM implementation.
  • Implementing effective maintenance planning strategies to deliver improved plant reliabilities at an improved cost.
  • Producing utilities consumption forecasts for the finance department.
  • Managing utilities and facilities budgets delivering continuous improvements of cost.
  • Producing performance reports for the entire brewery (kWh/hl, hl/hl etc.).
  • Ensuring delivery of Utilities KPI’s through effective engagement of the entire site.
  • Contributing, supporting, and challenging the site's engineering team when appropriate.
  • Acting as site duty holder, managing high voltage and domestic electrical systems across the site.
  • Delivering facilities of a standard appropriate for a brewery practicing GMP.
  • Utilising best practices and world-class manufacturing techniques including advanced problem-solving methodologies to resolve acute, chronic, or recurring plant issues.
  • Managing the site's environmental agenda and all site duties with agencies and other government bodies.
  • Ensuring statutory compliance for the utilities and facilities departments including boilers, steam services, compressed air, refrigeration & ammonia, CO2 & N2 plant, water treatments, and L8.

Requirements & Key Competencies:

  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Proven experience in Utilities Management, Engineering Management, or similar roles in complex and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience in FMCG industries with drink and food manufacturing experience advantageous.
  • Exceptional organisation, communication, and leadership capabilities.
  • People management skills including coaching to maximise performance.
  • Strong knowledge of UK utility regulations and sustainability practices.
  • Knowledge of planned maintenance systems to manage the Company’s Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Understanding of ISO systems such as environment, HSE, food safety, and quality.
  • Possesses knowledge of world-class manufacturing techniques and standards.
  • Can operate within frameworks of standards and compliance systems.
  • A structured and proactive approach to problem solving and teamwork.
  • Practical application of using Lean/TPM manufacturing techniques within a manufacturing environment.
