Job description

User Researcher required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 6 month contract, paying £ a day, inside IR35, hybrid working.

Job Description:

We are preparing to kick-off two phases of work in Dashboards and Dissemination:

  1. An alpha on metrics, following a period of discovery
  2. A discovery on tools, in partnership with the Analytical Platform team

This role will be supporting both the metrics alpha and tools discovery.

In the metrics alpha, you will:

  1. Test our shortlisted solutions to provide a 'single place to create metrics' from discovery to understand their general feasibility, viability and desirability
  2. Test the metric lifecycle for Outcome Delivery Plan metrics and how these can be integrated into TopView
  3. Undertake analysis to inform our roll out plan beyond alpha

The tools discovery will explore three main problems:

  1. Decisions about the tools people can use, and the security, governance and capability needs around them, are made in siloes. This is creating inefficiency, inconsistency and risk.
  2. In many cases, people just don't have the right tools for the job.
  3. In other cases, people may have the right tools for the job but they're not well integrated into the wider data ecosystem.

Across these projects, you will:

  1. Develop research plans
  2. Plan and carry out research activities
  3. Analyse outputs to generate insights and actions
  4. Identify users, understand and document their needs and develop problem statements
  5. Support the team in exploring how to meet user's needs

You will have experience of:

  1. Designing and conducting user research activities, including with people with access needs
  2. Working with people from other digital and data professions throughout the user research process
  3. Applying a range of research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, and selecting the right research method for the problem to be solved
  4. Turning research findings into actionable insights that can be used to inform development, through analysis and synthesis
  5. Communicating your findings and insights to a range of audiences

Please apply should you fit the above criteria.
