The Role:
As a User Researcher in the public sector, you'll uncover insights that drive innovation in government digital services. By understanding the needs and challenges of diverse communities, you’ll promote a user-centred approach to service design.
You'll conduct research methods like interviews and usability testing to amplify citizens' voices and translate findings into actionable insights. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you'll ensure design decisions reflect real user experiences.
Your advocacy for users will help improve the overall user journey, integrating research into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and agile practices, ultimately reshaping government services to build trust and satisfaction in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct diverse user research methods (interviews, usability testing, surveys, ethnography) to uncover user behaviours and needs.
- Collect and interpret qualitative and quantitative data, transforming complex findings into actionable insights.
- Develop user archetypes, journey maps, and other artefacts that communicate insights and inform team decision-making.
- Work with designers, product managers, and developers to translate research into user-focused products that meet business objectives.
- Embed user-centred thinking throughout the product lifecycle to ensure insights inform all development stages.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and tools in user research and design, dedicated to evolving practices for greater impact and efficiency.
- Effectively communicate research findings and their business value to diverse stakeholders in technical and business contexts.
- Synthesize complex data and identify strategic user solutions.
- Exhibit deep curiosity about user needs and behaviours, combined with meticulous attention to detail for delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Familiar with agile, iterative design, focusing on user empathy and refining solutions based on feedback and evolving requirements.
