US Tax Manager

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced US Tax Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in US tax laws and regulations, tax planning, compliance, and client management. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for a portfolio of US clients and involved in tax projects, providing strategic tax advice, managing compliance processes, and fostering strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities:

1. Manage a portfolio of US clients: managing all aspects of the tax compliance and wider relationship management.
2. Develop and implement tax strategies for clients with cross-border interests between the US and UK.
3. Review US tax returns.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing proactive tax advice and addressing their needs in a timely and professional manner.
5. Support Partners and Directors in providing market-leading advice to US connected clients in the UK.
6. Ability to delegate tasks effectively and manage workload distribution to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
7. Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.
8. Work collaboratively with the wider tax team.

Skills and expertise:

1. US Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is essential.
2. A range of previous experience in US tax compliance and advisory services, in owner-managed businesses, personal tax, partnerships, and corporate tax is preferred but not required in all areas.
3. UK tax technical knowledge is preferred but not required.
4. Demonstrated experience in managing and coaching staff members.
5. In-depth knowledge of US and UK tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex tax issues.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members at all levels.
