Urology Nurse Specialist | KIMS Hospital Maidstone

Due to an increase in patient activity, we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced nurse with experience in urological nursing to join our Cancer Services Team. You will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, using and applying your knowledge of urological disease management to personalise the patients’ pathway to meet their needs.

You will be a qualified adult nurse with post registration experience in managing various urological conditions including Catheter and continence care along with renal and benign cancer care.

This is a bank role and therefore a zero hours contract covering absence and patient volume.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage specialist Urology clinics and a urology patient caseload in line with business needs.
• Work with other clinical leads and consultants to maximise utilisation of outpatient sessions to provide the most efficient use of resources.
• Support the Pathways for Cancer Care in-line with national Guidance.
• Be involved in MDT’s/obtaining of same – relating to patients being seen and treated at KIMS.
• Ensure that own professional development is maintained and enhanced.

Personal Specification

• Be a qualified nurse with a current NMC registration.
• Have post-registration clinical experience in urology and the management of urological cancers.
• Be competent in male and female catheterisation.
• Be competent in delivering intravesical treatments such as Mitomycin and BCG (Bacille Calmette-Guerin).
• Hold a post graduate course in relevant speciality.
• Have experience of working with the Holistic Needs Assessment.
• Have phlebotomy and cannulation skills.
• Have an IV therapy Passport.
