Role Summary

As a LP Specialist you will be responsible for protecting the company's assets including Staff, Merchandise, and Property. Providing a safe and secure environment for our employees, customers and visitors through the implementation of Company Loss Prevention strategies, whilst protecting company assets, identifying exposures and highlighting opportunities to reduce loss.

This position is based at our Peterborough Fulfilment Centre, you will collaborate with the EU Loss Prevention Team in Stores and Head Office and provide support and assistance to on site management.

What You'll Be Doing

  1. Work rotation shift patterns: Typical rotation, Early, Middle, Late and Express shifts. Support peak demands including night rotation operational work.
  2. Role may involve Europe and International travel.
  3. Provide support and coaching to Loss Prevention Coordinators by working collaboratively with LPM.
  4. Provide Loss Prevention and security education and awareness to fulfilment site operational staff and participate in training sessions promoting loss awareness.
  5. Perform daily, weekly and monthly routines and processes e.g. site security equipment inspections (Building exterior, lighting, perimeter fencing, security risk assessments), Loss Prevention audits, maintenance and repair of physical security systems (e.g. alarms, access control, CCTV) and make recommendations for improvements as appropriate by effective recording and reporting.
  6. Conduct daily scheduled and random searches on URBN employees, contractors and visitors as well as lockers and vehicles across the fulfilment site, to promote a culture of trust and deter dishonesty.
  7. Support the fulfilment site operational management team with any Loss Prevention/security issues that arise and communicate these in a timely manner, recording and capturing details for compliance.
  8. Integrate with the Loss Prevention function across the wider business, to share best practice, identify common risks and opportunities and lead with investigations/operations as required to provide a bespoke "end to end" Loss Prevention service to URBN UK and Europe.
  9. Investigate/ lead investigations of allegations of theft, fraud and conduct loss control interviews on staff.
  10. Work closely with the Tech Team, HR Team and Team Managers to maintain all processes and systems across fulfilment site which support safety & security. Provide support with investigations for disciplinaries and court hearings where required.
  11. Responsibility of managing fulfilment site (Security Safe) control of money and manage keys and access to site and business.
  12. Actively identify risks and common trends and suggest any opportunities or solutions to improve the safety & security of our people, product and assets.
  13. Establish relationships with 3PL partners and liaise in respect of the security of inbound/outbound merchandise movement and goods in storage.
  14. Ensure all inbound and outbound vehicles are properly handled at the Transport office and in the trailer yard and conduct random searches of 3PL transportation where necessary.
  15. Assist in any emergency events as necessary e.g. evacuation of the premises and take lead role where required as a trained Incident Controller, Certified Fire Marshal and First Aid at Work Responder.
  16. Identify any risks to the Health and Safety, lead and report any unsafe working practices and any building issues requiring maintenance relating to security risk to premises.
  17. Establish and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and other government agencies/local authorities in relation to legal stands and criminality.
  18. Oversee/arrange 3rd party Security resource and cover as required, collaboratively with LPM to ensure suitable cover.
  19. Be an Authorised keyholder for the Fulfilment Site and respond to out of hours incidents by being part of on call rota system.


What You'll Need

  1. Complete and Pass Urban Outfitters Security and Background Vetting Process.
  2. Have good understanding and experience with transferable skills of URBN DC processes, including goods in, receiving, administration and distribution procedures and end to end supply chain system.
  3. An understanding of current and innovative Loss Prevention techniques with previous experience working in a similar role related to safety and security within a warehousing/distribution environment.
  4. Certificate or training related to safety and security at work e.g. Loss Prevention, Risk Assessments, First Aid, Fire Marshal. Desirable: IOSH, NEBOSH etc.
  5. Good I.T. skills with knowledge of security systems & technology e.g. intruder/ fire alarms, CCTV, and control room etc.
  6. Good communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence colleagues and customers at all levels.
  7. Strong ability to maintain a calm and respectful manner especially under pressure, and the ability to provide clear written statements and reports in the event of any incidents.
  8. Flexible approach to the role with the ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
