An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Surgery Division to join an established team within the Upper GI & Endocrine Surgery Department as a full time Specialty PA.

Working hours are 8-4 or 9-5 Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must have proven secretarial/personal assistant experience. You will be responsible for supporting the Upper GI & Endocrine team.

You will monitor patient investigations and post-op results and work closely with the CNS team and surgeons. You will record and monitor Consultant annual leave and liaise with the relevant departments to ensure activity is cancelled/cross-covered. You will work closely with the Waiting List Coordinator providing cross cover. You must have a good understanding of current NHS targets including 18 week Referral to Treatment and Cancer targets. You will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You must be able to forward think and problem solve.

You are an effective communicator and must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's values and behaviours. It is essential you have previous recent experience in a secretarial role.

You will need to be confident in speaking to team members, as a large part of this role will involve mentoring staff through general HR related tasks, training, appraisals, and recruitment.

You will work closely with the Endocrine & Upper GI Surgeons in delivering quality care to patients. You will form part of an experienced team working with everyone and will cross cover colleagues when required to do so.
