Job description

Axcis Education are pleased to be working with a SEND school in Skelmersdale, who are searching for teaching assistants to join their team. There are full time and part time positions available. Part time positions will involve providing absence cover for the school on a flexible basis. Full time would involve working Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm, and would be on an ongoing basis. Likely until the end of the academic year and likely to go permanent for the right applicant.

The school caters for pupils aged between 11 and 18 with a range of additional needs. These needs include autism, learning difficulties, ADHD, cerebral palsy and mobility needs. The successful applicant would be expected to work either 1-1 or in small groups.

The school has access to a large number of activities for students to enjoy - such as an onsite forest school, canoeing, hiking, farm visits, sports and swimming. There is a strong team of support staff to help any new starters settle in and the school benefits from an excellent senior leadership team. There is a car park on site and good public transport links within walking distance of the school.

To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience working with the SEND needs listed above. Personal care will be required. These roles would suit applicants coming from a care background due to the needs of the pupils. You will require an enhanced DBS, either dated in the past 12 months or on the update service. The most important thing is that you are a friendly, reliable and proactive individual, keen to make a positive impression on the learning of SEND students.
