Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives who have special needs and need someone to be their voice?

Teaching Personnel is offering a number of flexible teaching assistant roles which allows you to tailor work into your schedule as we provide full-time and part-time work. We support children at primary and secondary level, so there is a wide range of ages to support.

We're looking for someone who is confident with de-escalating challenging behaviour and possesses strong behaviour management skills, able to work in different provisions and is highly reliable. Most importantly, this role requires you to be empathetic and patient as this is what these children need, as they have mental health issues or special needs, requiring a special person to help them through life!

About the role:

  1. Start: Roles begin after the Easter break from the 22nd of April till the end of the academic year
  2. Small class: Sizes of 8-10, which creates strong relationships with the students
  3. Teaching Assistant role: Sometimes 1:1 with the students, but generally you will support multiple children at a time.
  4. TA support: Support the classroom alongside 3/4 other TA's and the class Teacher
  5. No prior teaching qualifications/experience needed: Desirable to have experience with children and special needs, but essential to have a positive attitude and the passion to work with children
  6. Monday-Friday (08:30-3:30 or 8:00-3:00): Work fits into your life which creates a healthy work/life balance as we offer full-time and part-time!
  7. Roles are all over Bristol: All schools are accessible by bus and have car parking. We will match the school to what works best for your life.
  8. Age groups: Support primary and/or secondary schools with children with special education needs and/or emotional and social needs

What you need:

  1. To have/get a child-only DBS on the update service and to have 24 months' worth of references
  2. Prior experience working with children with SEND needs (not essential but desired)
  3. To be adaptable and resilient in challenging environments. Flexibility is a key element as your day will look different each day e.g. one day in the classroom and the next out on school trips
  4. To have a friendly and playful side to yourself and have the desire to work with children of all backgrounds.
  5. Demonstrate the willingness to learn and to be flexible in supporting the schools' needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
