Job description

Are you currently studying at UWE or the University of Bristol? Are you doing a course in child development, education, or psychology?

We are interested in speaking with anyone that would be keen to take on work with students supporting as a teaching assistant on a 1:1 basis. This can either be full-time or part-time depending on your preferences.

Working hours are 8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday, and term time only.

The sorts of students you would likely work with will have additional learning needs, such as being on the autistic spectrum or having mental health needs. We are looking for people that have a vested interest in catering to students' development and reaching their learning goals.

Duties include:
  1. Supporting students on a 1:1 basis, working closely with the teacher and SENCO on the students' learning goals and support plan.
  2. Delivering a consistent, empathetic but firm approach when it comes to managing behaviours.
  3. Being flexible to the school's needs and having a pro-active approach to supporting in the classroom.
  4. Following instructions set out by the teacher daily and providing feedback on student progress.

In return, we offer competitive pay rates, online courses and training around working in a school environment, and a great platform to manage your work diary.

In order to work with children, an enhanced DBS on the update service is required as part of your application. So if you are looking to gain some hands-on experience in tandem with your studies, get in touch today!
