Job title: Underwriter (Property & Casualty)

Salary: £40,000

Location: London

Purpose of role:

Our client is a unique international financial services group, looking to add a Property & Casualty Underwriter to their successful team. With an ambitious plan to become the number one corporate donor supported by objectives to double the group's size over the next five years, you will be playing your own part in their growing successes.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Negotiate and profitably underwrite business within own authority and in line with company strategy.
  2. Support Senior Underwriters on Key Accounts.
  3. Plan, prioritise and manage workload to deliver exceptional customer service.
  4. Use the appropriate method of communication (telephone, face to face, email and post) to support and maintain a high-quality service to our Customers and Business Partners.
  5. Act on individual audit results and action plans within agreed deadlines to improve own performance.
  6. Understand and operate within regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business.
  7. Be an Ambassador for the business area by identifying complaints and acting upon them in line with company policy.
  8. Actively expand personal technical and niche knowledge both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (In-house training, CII, CPD).

Skills:

  1. Commercial combined / Property underwriting experience essential.
  2. Cert CII qualified or a willingness to achieve qualifications within an agreed timescale.
  3. Market, Industry and Company knowledge desirable.
  4. Strong verbal communication and ability to produce tailored written communication.
  5. Good system and administration skills with attention to detail and accuracy to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  6. Ability to challenge and identify opportunities for improvement.
  7. Professional and personable - a credible representative for our client.
  8. Resilient, positive and pro-active with a can-do attitude.
