QBE is hiring for a Fleet Underwriter to join our experienced Motor team based in Manchester, with some coverage across Leeds. Our book is growing, and we have a newly created role to support this as we continue to build our conventional motor offering in the region, which also includes some semi-conventional exposures. With large premiums, a wide appetite, and clear underwriting strategy, this is a brilliant opportunity to join an empowered, supportive team.

With a primary location of Manchester combined with hybrid/flexible working, this role will include occasional travel to Leeds to partner with regional major trading partners.

Your Role

• Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the Business Plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners, and colleagues, to maximise influence
• Participate fully and use your expertise to shape and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practice
• Positively promote the department, division, and company as a whole, to maximise brand leverage
• Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
• Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency
• Actively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to operate effectively and appropriately

About You

• Experience in UK motor fleet underwriting
• Commercial ability to understand the key profit drivers to maximise long-term wealth for our shareholders
• Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages
• Good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
• Good negotiating skills, innovative in underwriting approach and programme design
