JOB PURPOSE:

To assist in the Underwriting, Administration, Management and Development of the Charity, Faith and Recruitment products in accordance with individual and collective targets and service levels. Using your experience, knowledge, and skills to deal with Renewals and MTAs for our Brokers, you will ensure technical compliance with our underwriting guides and strategy.

You will do so whilst developing and maintaining both Broker and Insurer partner relationships.

You will ensure that the production of all documents is in line with underwriting guides, service level agreements and within business operating standards.

Using your experience, you will be responsible for achieving retention targets whilst contributing to the division’s overall targets and objectives.

You will maintain SLA’s by providing an excellence in service and TCF through adherence to company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To prepare and provide Renewal and MTA quotations to Broker Partners based on personal authority limitations.
  • Provide accurate and compliant underwriting of the business in accordance with our underwriting and processes guides, location perils and exposure systems, claims reviews and underwriting experience to assist in binding quality business to achieve profitable growth.
  • Instigate regular dialogue with Broker Partners on allocated renewals to secure renewal instruction and achieve individual & collective targets.
  • Provide accurate and compliant Renewals and mid-term adjustments in line with pricing levels, risk selection criteria and ensure that income & conversion objectives are achieved.
  • Manage Insurer surveys in accordance with the survey criteria. Diary to ensure surveys are completed within deadlines and deal with any breaches highlighted. Follow up on risk improvement requirements to ensure they are implemented.
  • To oversee all administrative duties required in connection to the above which includes but is not limited to, processing & administering policy documentation, providing mid-term adjustments, renewal reviews broker negotiation & claims monitoring.
  • To act as a Technical Referral, point & mentor for other Team members as required.
  • To assist the business with the training of other Team members and peers as required.
  • Contribute to a successful audit score both on individual and business audits.
  • To ensure a robust QA review process is adhered to.
  • Achieve individual income target and retention target from renewal allocation.
  • Contribute to the wider achievement of team and business unit targets by delivering on all monthly KPIs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all customer contact and ensure the delivery of high-quality service, appropriate to needs of Broker or Insurer needs.
  • Acquire and maintain accurate level of appropriate technical, product and regulatory knowledge and skill in accordance with the Training and Competency requirements, working to exceed minimum T&C competency levels.
  • Underwrite business according to current strategy within individual level of delegated authority.
  • Attend business functions as may be required.
  • Carry out any additional duties as agreed with your line manager.
  • To maintain quality and detailed underwriting records and electronic files to evidence the risk insured and underwriting. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and procedures including Fair Presentation of Risk, TCF principles, GDPR and Consumer Duty.
  • Your duties will, at various times, require you to act for the insured and insurer. You will be responsible for adhering to all our procedures and policies in relation to the identification and management of potential conflicts of interest and for the fair treatment of customers.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 GCSE, Grades A-C including English and Maths.
  • Minimum Certification CII qualification, working towards Diploma or ACII.

Experience
  • Experience of working within a Regulated FCA environment desirable.
  • Proven understanding of commercial property underwriting.
  • Good history of achieving business objectives.
  • 5 years Property and Casualty underwriting experience.
  • Experience in the Charity/Faith or Recruitment Sector.
  • Experience in Executive Risks sections of cover.

Knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Property & Casualty wordings and products.
  • Good technical underwriting knowledge of Property & Casualty.
  • Understanding of the Broker market & ability to develop effective broker relationships.
  • Proven understanding of underwriting guidelines for all transactions (renewals, new business, endorsements, cancellations, etc.) and ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of market.
  • Understanding and experience in the Charity/Faith and/or Recruitment Sectors.
  • Understanding of the FCA T&C role and importance of Compliance within regulated industry.

Skills
  • Works well under pressure and ability to adapt and remain flexible in approach.
  • Computer Literate and able to work on new systems to record and produce accurate MI.
