Underground Millwright / Pump Technician

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan, centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay, and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Underground Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs associated with the underground equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Install, align, take part and move stationary industrial machinery, such as hoisting plants, pumps, fans, tanks, and conveyors;
2. Read, understand and interpret prints;
3. Maintain maintenance systems in the underground processes;
4. Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions;
5. Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective part components;
6. Other duties assigned by the Underground Maintenance Supervisor as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

1. Holder of Provincial Industrial Millwright Journeyman Trade Certificate License is preferred;
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintaining gold mining plants is preferred;
3. Basic Underground Common Core is preferred;
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
5. Strong safety focus;
6. Self-motivated ability to work alone.

Schedule: 5/5/4 (days and nights), 12-hour shifts.
