Undergraduate Medical Education (Medicine & Surgery)
Applications are invited for the above post, based at Kingston Hospital Education Centre, to start from August 6th 2025, for 12 months fixed term. Appointments will be made in line with the stated salary scale MT02-MT03.
The post holder will be involved in the education of medical undergraduates from City St George's University of London Medical School. They will deliver bedside teaching, tutorials, simulation and other educational activities such as a mock OSCE. Over the course of the year, there will be opportunities to take part in other events such as a careers fair, acting as an examiner and interviewing for the medical school.
The post holder will be encouraged and supported in undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.
The post is full time for 37.5 hours per week and is a solely educational role with no clinical work attached.

The successful candidate will play an important role in teaching and coordinating medical students from City St Georges MBBS programmes on rotation at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Teaching will include bedside teaching sessions, tutorials, mock OSCEs, simulation sessions and involvement in the hospital Grand Round. Students on both medical and surgical placements will be taught examination and history taking skills as well as core generic knowledge such as x-ray interpretation. The successful candidate will take part in delivering student inductions, alongside the Medical Undergraduate Coordinator. The teaching fellow will be given time to write and develop their own teaching material.
Student wellbeing is a priority within our team and the teaching fellow is key to ensuring that students are supported. The teaching fellow will provide a point of contact for students and the role includes answering queries from students (both face to face and by email) about their placement.
The post holder will work in the Undergraduate Education Team at Kingston Hospital. The team includes the Undergraduate Tutor/Sub Dean, a second teaching fellow (who works two days a week), the Medical Undergraduate Coordinator and administrative staff. The team meets monthly via MS Teams to review feedback and discuss the teaching programmes.
This job will also require liaison with St Georges, University of London, by attending Committee Meetings and Clinical Teaching Fellow meetings and attending training days at St Georges Medical School.
There will be opportunity to undertake a significant Quality Improvement Project within the Trust, to produce and present a poster. The successful candidate will also undertake a project on a topic within the PgCert Course on undergraduate education.
