An exciting opportunity to join a leading ultrasound department at one of the UK's largest teaching hospitals. This role involves leading the development of training and education programmes for sonographers, while also expanding the skill mix within the team. The position is a blend of clinical and non-clinical work, requiring strong communication and organisational skills. This is an exciting new opportunity to join the ultrasound department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) to lead the development of the Sonographer training and education programmes whilst also expanding and diversifying the skill mix within the current team.
The role will be trust-wide with a 60/40 split between non-clinical and clinical work.
A knowledge and understanding of education, training and working practices within Ultrasound at LTHT is essential.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, alongside a strong background of clinical expertise.
The post holder will work closely with the Lead Sonographer, Lead Clinician and Clinical Educators to develop the ultrasound training programmes across the trust, in conjunction with the academic institutions who provide the Sonography training. It will also involve developing the undergraduate and apprentice degree courses alongside the post-graduate diploma.
The role will require you to support the trainee sonographers whilst also developing the skill mix of the existing staff body to create a multi-skilled professional workforce.
The post holder will also be required to work as an autonomous practitioner performing and independently reporting a wide range of ultrasound examinations to include obstetrics, general medical and gynaecological cases, formulating a comprehensive diagnostic report and ensuring that this is communicated to the appropriate referring clinician.
