Job Description:

Stork is recruiting for a UKAS CAT 3 Pipework Inspection Engineer based in Southampton on a permanent basis.

Annual leave: 25 + 8 Fixed Public Holiday days per annum.

Role

Stork is currently looking for a UKAS RG2 category 3 Inspection Engineer to work onshore in the Southampton region. The role will involve in-service plant inspections based on a refinery plant.

Tasks and Responsibilities of an Inspection Engineer:

  • Preparation of WSEs in accordance with the Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR).
  • Preparation of inspection work scopes to satisfy the Written Schemes of Examination (WSE), specifying access, insulation removal and NDT requirements.
  • Carry out invasive visual examinations of major pressure systems in accordance with the WSE, including process pipework, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, distillation columns, PRVs and storage tanks.
  • Interface with the NDT team to provide clarification on NDT inspection techniques to meet integrity objectives.
  • Preparation of high-quality inspection reports, accurately describing the asset's condition.
  • Grade corrosion against company procedure corrosion scales and raise mandatory defects when acceptable limits are breached.
  • Review PRV certification to ensure the device is correctly set and overhauled/tested on a set frequency.
  • Review WSE and inspection frequency post-inspection to confirm accuracy and relevancy.
  • Participate in the Risk Based Assessment programme for pressure systems equipment.

Requirements for the Inspection Engineer Role

Essential Requirements and Experience

In-service inspection experience of process piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, distillation columns, and PRVs, with knowledge of the accompanying design codes. Understanding of PSSR with experience of creating work scopes to carry out examinations of major pressure systems in accordance with the WSE.

Successful applicants must meet the UKAS definition for category 3 inspection engineers:

Category 3: Engineering Technician as defined by Engineering Council or equivalent (e.g. appropriate ONC with relevant experience, NVQ Level III) having a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a relevant discipline, of which at least one year shall have been spent working within an engineering discipline associated with the in-service inspection of pressure systems.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection Certification.
