UK Engineering Delivery Director - Projects and NPD

Location: Hybrid - Crawley, with travel to other sites as required

No of Reports: approx. 40

As the UK Engineering Delivery Director, you will lead the delivery of and accountability for technical projects in VVUK as part of the Volution Ventilation Group technical community.

You’ll be accountable for UK technical resources designing new and modifying existing hardware solutions to facilitate new product development, or cost reductions / performance improvements to existing products.

You’ll be responsible for technical resource management, load/capacity balance, project delivery and reporting. In addition, you’ll be working with other Volution Group technical resource owners, to facilitate strategic technical project delivery across the Group.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To always work safely without putting themselves, colleagues, or members of the public at risk.
  • Lead the delivery of UK engineering projects to design, develop and maintain products as the single accountable person for UK engineering team delivery performance.
  • Line management of project management practitioners.
  • Develop processes and tools and manage UK technical resources, matching capability and capacity to projected workload monthly.
  • Monitor and maintain project controls across all UK projects within company systems.
  • Follow and maintain the Engineering Change, certifications, new product development and project delivery processes.
  • To create and work with additional data and documentation as required, including the use of an MRP database and Task/Time management systems.
  • To work in a small team environment, with the varied responsibilities that entails including supporting and mentoring colleagues as required.
  • To become a key member within the Group Engineering Leadership team.
  • Work with other departments and external parties as required to assist in the progress of technical projects.
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Group Technical Director and associated technical management.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking the following skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering/related subjects.
  • Minimum 15 years of industry experience in Engineering Project Delivery.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with proven track record of establishing enduring working relationships with diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in project and technical resource management.
  • Ability to write comprehensive technical design documentation.
  • Experience with technical resource management in a complex organisation.
  • Experience in handover and management of designs in production.
  • Able to support/debug integrated systems.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant Microsoft Office Tools, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiar with the CE/CA Approvals process.
  • Strong written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to travel to other Volution sites and internationally to visit key suppliers and partners.
