Medway NHS Foundation Trust is an acute hospital trust based in Gillingham, Kent, serving a population of over 427,000 people across Medway and Swale. With over 5,000 staff and an active volunteer network, we are an anchor institution that plays a vital part in the local community and are committed to providing Best of Care, Best of People to all our patients.
We are seeking two exceptional individuals with strong finance expertise to join our Board as Non-Executive Directors (NEDs), one to Chair the Audit Committee and the other to Chair the Finance Committee. This is a significant opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Trust’s future and ensuring the highest standards of financial governance, transparency, and accountability, ensuring these are aligned to quality and performance, as we continue our journey of transformation and improvement.
As Non-Executive Directors, you will work closely with the Trust Chair, Executive Directors, and Council of Governors to provide independent oversight, challenge, and support. You will bring your expertise to help us achieve our strategic ambitions while ensuring financial sustainability and robust governance processes.
As Non-Executive Director, you will make a tangible difference to the large and diverse population we serve. To achieve this, you will offer transferable skills gained ideally as a Non-Executive or potentially as a senior executive leader in an organisation of comparable scale and complexity. Prior experience of Chairing an audit, finance or related committee would also be an asset. During the selection process, we are interested in how your skills and career successes to date will enable you to provide the best possible care to our communities.
You must also demonstrate an unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion and showcase how you will role model this at Medway and across our system while upholding the Trust’s values and working collaboratively to promote the best outcomes for patients, staff, and stakeholders.
We welcome candidates from a range of sectors, including private, public, or voluntary, who can bring transferable skills and a fresh perspective to our Board. Experience within healthcare is not essential, but a passion for improving healthcare services and patient outcomes is critical.
These are significant and impactful Board opportunities, and if your values and ambition match ours and the opportunity to join our Board attracts you, then we very much look forward to hearing from you.
