At EY, you’ll have the chance to build a career as unique as you are, with the global scale, support, inclusive culture, and technology to become the best version of you. Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all.

Pension covenant advice moved into a new phase of existence in 2022, driven by the volatility in pension funding positions and a dramatically changing economic environment. We are market leaders in this new environment, helping our clients navigate today’s challenges whilst supporting the transition to the new Funding Code.

The Opportunity

EY-Parthenon’s Pensions Strategy team is award winning, known for our collaborative style, market-leading approach and pivotal industry positions. We are looking for a motivated, driven and experienced covenant advisor to join our growing team.

Our clients range from pension trustees, corporates, lenders, investors and regulators. We act as trusted advisors to our clients throughout a pension scheme’s lifecycle, building trusted relationships and delivering value. In order to do this, we work closely alongside our actuarial colleagues and EY-Parthenon sector teams.

We support flexible working and many of our team members take advantage of reduced hours contracts or atypical working hours to fit around other priorities.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Pensions Executive, you'll work on a number of clients across our large portfolio in consultation with the Assistant Director / Partner, in accordance with EY policies and protocols.

You will take responsibility for drafting client deliverables across multiple engagements, reporting to the Assistant Director and where there isn’t one, directly to the engagement Partner or Director, project managing the engagement, communicating issues to the Partner / Director and driving the project to completion.

You will nurture relationships – both inside EY with different specialist teams across the firm, and externally with client staff or lawyers.

You will fit into our positive learning culture from day one, coaching and counseling junior team members to help them develop.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Financial analysis and scenario modelling to support decision making.
  • Commercial acumen – applying knowledge and insight gained from client work.
  • Able to identify key issues on assignments and suggest workable solutions.
  • Experienced in presenting findings clearly in reports and other deliverables.
  • Assist in managing the financial aspects of engagements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and confidence to deal with a range of stakeholder groups.
  • Good project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Desire to support the people development of the Pensions team.
  • Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A minimum of one year working in the Pensions industry or a similar advisory role.
  • An understanding of defined benefit pension schemes and their financial risk to employers.
  • The ability to build strong internal and external relationships.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A track record within a recognised pensions covenant advisory team.
  • People development experience and can effectively supervise, coach and mentor staff.

What we look for

We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, ambitious, and have a passion to be part of a growing pensions team where collaboration is important.

What we offer

  • Continuous learning: Develop the mindset and skills to navigate whatever comes next.
  • Success as defined by you: We’ll provide the tools and flexibility, so you can make a meaningful impact.
  • Transformative leadership: Insights, coaching and confidence to be the leader the world needs.
  • Diverse and inclusive culture: Embraced for who you are and empowered to use your voice.

If you can demonstrate that you meet the criteria above, please contact us as soon as possible.

The exceptional EY experience. It’s yours to build.
