The Students’ Union represents over 30,000 students who study at the University, whether in Newcastle, London or around the world. We provide students with a wide range of services from our social and community activities to student representation and advice.
2025 has seen our best elections turnout as well as participation in our societies and social activities. We work closely with the University and share its aspirations of higher education as a powerful driver for social mobility in the region, the UK and internationally.
The Union is governed by a Board of Trustees, drawn from students and external individuals. They set the direction of the Union and ensure that it is acting in the interests of the student body.
Northumbria Students’ Union is seeking an external trustee for the Board, ideally an individual with a background or experience in human resources, organisational development, or people development.
The role is for a period of four years and would be expected to attend six board meetings a year and five meetings of the HR & Remuneration sub-committee of the Board. The successful applicant is able to undertake a second four-year term if approved by the Board.
