An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 individuals to join the Paediatric team at Northampton General Hospital as Senior Clinical Fellows to work within both our Paediatric and Neonatal teams.
This is a 6 month Fixed term post working at SCF level within the registrar rota, offering extensive clinical experience in General paediatrics and in level 2 neonatal care in a busy district general hospital setting. The post holder will work across the two general paediatric wards, paediatric admissions unit, neonatal unit, post-natal wards, and in the out-patients department.
Please note that this is a non-training post. We encourage applicants wanting to progress through the CESR pathway. Less than full time applicants are welcome to apply.
This is a Full-time post and the holder will be expected to work flexibly on the ST3+(middle grade/Registrar) rota. Duties will cover all areas in the department including admissions unit, Level 2 neonatal unit, out-patients, paediatric emergency department, and maternity unit for high risk deliveries. The role also encompasses elements of clinical audit, clinical governance, and teaching of medical students, nursing staff, and junior doctors.
There is a rolling programme of teaching with regular lunchtime teaching. There is a weekly clinical meeting (Friday afternoon) and X-ray meeting (Monday morning). Teaching is also available for postgraduate examinations, e.g. MRCPCH, DCH. The postgraduate medical centre has a well-stocked library, a computer terminal for Medline searches, and CD databases.
The successful applicant is expected to play a full part in the active department training programme for other doctors and assist in the education of clinical students from Oxford and other medical schools.

The successful applicant will begin work at a level commensurate with previous experience, likely to be at ST3-7 (registrar) level. The post holder must be registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practice. Participation in the Departmental teaching programme will be expected, and you will have a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of your post. Our department consistently receives excellent feedback from trainees regarding the friendly working environment, the approachability and supportiveness of senior staff, and the training opportunities available.
This is not a HEE recognised post, and you will not receive a National Training Number or a CCT.
