This is a full-time post. The post holder will primarily work in intensive care, providing daytime and night time cover in the ICU. Also, during their non-on call period, they would take part in theatre sessions, providing anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgery.

There is a dedicated 24-hour consultant cover with immediate daytime and distant night time supervision. The post-holder will be part of the in-hospital cardiac arrest and trauma team. It will also provide an opportunity to gain anaesthetic experience in multiple surgical specialties, including general surgery, colorectal, orthopaedics and trauma, gynaecology, and ENT.

Opportunities for study leave and participation in departmental education and quality improvement projects will also be encouraged. The appointed candidates will have a study budget to help achieve their training needs. They will have a dedicated clinical supervisor to support their learning objectives.
